Asbestos Barn Roof Overcladding | Skye, Inverness-shire
What was the issue:
The customer had contacted us, as their Barn roof had been leaking. As with any business, a property with a leak, can be extremely costly, if left unresolved. The roof had begun leaking as the asbestos sheets on the roof of barn, had visible cracks and in general had eroded, due to their age and weather conditions in the highlands. The roof had existing Roof Light sheets and given the purpose of the barn; it was important to have roof light sheets on their new roof.
How we resolved it:
How did we resolve it: The system installed was a Metal Overcladding system, this is a cost-effective way to replace any industrial metal roof as it reduces the costs involved of removal and causes less disruption to the business. The existing Metal Roof was strapped with timber and insulated with cladding insulation.
Full length, bespoke, made to measure, Plastisol Coated Steel Sheets were installed over the whole roof, with UV resistant Roof light sheets, fitted into the same area as the existing ones. A custom-made ridge cap was fitted to the top of the apex, to ensure maximum efficiency in the roof being watertight.
Finally Custom Plastisol Coated Steel Flashings were fitted around the roof, giving it a sharp finish and ensuring that extreme winds won’t affect the sheets. The roof was made fully watertight and given a new appearance, the sheets are coated to protect from erosion and boxed in professionally, giving maximum protection from any extreme Scottish weather.
