Why overclad an asbestos garage roof instead of replacing?
All asbestos waste is subject to Schedule 2 of The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. In addition, most asbestos waste is subject to The Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations 2009 (CDG 2009). These regulations mean the cost of having your roof completely removed while adhering to the required asbestos standards can be prohibitive.
The Over cladding system is a cost effective and non-disruptive way to increase the lifespan of your existing roof, improving the roof both cosmetically and in efficiency, while ensuring that the area is water tight. In a majority of instances the over cladding system has increased property value and the added insulation reduces energy costs. It is a competitive product in terms of pricing and a 20 year guarantee offers complete security.
What does the overclad process entail ?
The existing roof is strapped with 3×2 treated timbers and insulated before installing plastisol coated steel sheets. The steel sheets are made to fit the full length of your existing roof and are finished off with plastisol steel edging flashings and a new UPVC deep flow gutter system (where needed) to make your garage roof look like new.
The site is left clear and the sheets can be fitted around any structure or window already on the roof.
Installations can be completed in as little as 1 day.
How reliable is asbestos over cladding?
We have successfully installed the over cladding system on many jobs over many years for many customers, with no rusting and no leaks. As the sheets are long and overlap they are not prone to leaks, unlike some of the alternative products on the market, and are coated to cope with the UK’s cold and wet weather and to to prevent rusting.
Our metal over cladding comes with a 20 year guarantee, ensuring that you can move forward with the security of knowing you wont have to worry about a roof leak in the future.
