Porch Roof Firestone EPDM Fully Bonded System | Newton Mearns
What was the issue:
The customer had contacted us regarding their porch, as there was water damage in the property, due to a leak in their roof. The roof was covered in GRP and had multiple cracks and moss build up. While GRP can be a cost-effective solution, it does not work well with rapid weather changes. Thermal expansion causes the material to crack, this occurs when the material expands in the heat and contracts in the cold, in Scotland we see weather changes happen rapidly and the GRP cracks when this happens causing leaks.
How we resolved it:
We installed a Firestone EPDM Fully Bonded System. The first step was to remove the moss on the the roof, to provide a clear canvas to work on. The roof is the decked out with OSB boards providing a solid structure, to bond the rubber Membrane. In this case, a raggle was cut into the wall as to ensure a watertight finish, allowing the rubber to be run into the wall, ensuring a watertight seal. The Firestone EPDM rubber membrane was the installed onto the roof in one sheet and finished with Plastisol coated Steel Metal Edging Trims, to give the roof a clean, fresh look. The roof was made fully watertight, and the unsightly appearance completely upgraded.
